I create an environment for your nervous system to settle and regulate, allowing the therapeutic process to go much deeper.

Our cognitive mind holds past experiences as stories, whereas our body holds them as sensation - this is why I work integrating both body-oriented somatic therapy and psychotherapy.

The hidden impact of trauma

Every one of us carries experiences of trauma to varying degrees throughout life. Regardless of the perceived magnitude of these experiences, it’s likely that you’ve developed protective mechanisms or parts of you to cope and survive. This is a natural and normal part of being human, as our nervous systems are constantly working to keep us safe. When we feel threatened, our bodies instinctively respond to protect us.

However, when these experiences remain unaddressed, they can become suppressed deep within us — hidden, yet still present. Over time, they continue to influence how we function on a day-to-day basis, often without our conscious awareness.

Trauma affects the nervous system in profound ways, embedding itself within our cells, tissues, muscles and fascia — impacting every body system. This can manifest as:

  • Chronic physical and emotional pain

  • Chronic dis-ease

  • Inflammatory responses and

  • Mental and emotional challenges.

How my approach can help you

Through the integration of somatic and talk therapy, we can work together to explore the different parts of you using a whole-person centered approach. We will explore how your past experiences might be affecting you now—emotionally, psychologically, physically, socially, and spiritually. By bringing these experiences to light and processing them, we can help you reconnect with and integrate the different parts of yourself.

Our work will focus on acknowledging and welcoming all aspects of who you are, guiding you toward a place of self-compassion and acceptance. This journey of self-discovery and reflection will lead to a deeper understanding of yourself, your un-met needs, your shadows and how to work with and integrate all of this to live a more harmonious life.

Allowing your body to feel safe is paramount. Because we cannot heal what does not feel safe to be witnessed or felt. Through this, together we will renegotiate a relationship with your body, so that you can listen to it, feel it, be with it and befriend it — moving through the other side of deep pain and discomfort, both mentally and physically.

I believe suffering is a normal response to lifes challenges or harmful experiences caused by social, cultural and systemic, environmental and biological dysfunction. Oftentimes, people’s symptoms are a result of what they have previously experienced, that may not have been addressed. We now know a lot more about inter-generational trauma and how this is passed through multiple generations within family lines, which also expresses itself in many ways physically and psychologically.

I generally work using a non-pathologising approach to emotional wellbeing. Pathologising regards psychological distress as abnormal or unhealthy, generally only looking at and treating the symptoms. A non-pathologising model is from the stance that the abnormality is in the situation or experience and not the person.

I create a non-judgemental, open and welcoming space that encourages attunement and a strong and trusting therapeutic relationship.
